Christmas Holiday

We hosted the first Civil Solution Group Christmas party for the provo office. Dayton opened this office a year ago. He has since hired 7 other employees. They have grown fast and done well this year. We had dinner at Maglebys and then we played the Christmas Saran wrap game. It took Dayton and a couple hours to get the gifts and wrap them in saran wrap and then sedan wrap them all together in a giant ball. We had to unwrap them with gloves. It was quite the challenge, but it was a blast. Great Christmas party.

During the month of December, we talked a lot about service with the kids. We tried to come up with different ways to serve each other and our neighbors. We made all of our friends a loaf of bread. Hunter enjoyed delivering them all and wishing everyone a very "Merry Christmas." The first house he did say trick or treat, but got better after that. Hahaha. We had a good laugh and explained we were giving instead of getting.

I took the boys to the Springville library where we visited Santa. Carter was all for it. Without any hesitation, he ran to Santa and told him he wanted "teats" for Christmas. AKA treats. I shouldn't have expected anything less.

Hunter was a little hesitant about the man in the suit, but after he saw Carter get a candy cane, he jumped up and asked for another train set so he could build bigger and cooler train tracks.
Cooper was a little tuckered out and didn't quite make it to Santa.
Christmas Eve we spent at Grandma and Papa Hunters. We went to church in the morning and then had our traditional big Christmas Eve brunch. Afterwards we had the ultimate Hunter competition. We enjoyed doing this with Dayton's family over Thanksgiving so we continued the challenge over Christmas break with my family. We competed in fooseball, ping pong, and Dance Dance. It was absolutely hysterical.

Later that night we sang our traditional Christmas songs with the "play" instruments. Hunter Christmas Eve wouldn't be complete without a little jazz band Christmas concert. Christian on the Trombone, Papa and Isaac were on the trumpet. We then let the boys open their Christmas pajamas before putting them to bed.
The adults played games and opened our Christmas pajamas from Ralph the Elf. Ralph also brought Swedish candy and Swedish chocolate this year.
"New Pajamas?!?! Wahoo!" We knew the kids would have a great Christmas when they got this stoked about new pjs.
Carter is in that fun independent, I must do everything myself stage. He insists on getting him self dressed.

Cooper's first Christmas.
This outfit just about killed me.

Christmas morning, we all woke up at 6 to talk to Preston. He is currently in Zambia until the plague in Madagascar calms down. He is hoping sometime around March he can return. It was great to talk with him. Even Dima, who is currently in California, was able to google chat with us. The boys were very patient and waited several hours before opening their gifts. We did have to sneak away and grab some Christmas cereal and open up the stockings before the phone call was over. I love seeing the magic of Christmas in their eyes.

All Carter wanted was treats. If you know Carter, he is a big time foodie. When he saw his favorite bananas and treats in his stocking Christmas was complete.

Brother loves.
Cooper got to sleep in on Christmas. We did his stocking after presents. He sure is the happiest little guy!
Opening presents. . . .

Christmas Day was pretty relaxed. We hung out, played games, and later pulled the traditional Grandma Fern taffy.
We tried all sorts of flavors: rum, lemon, orange, root-beer and vanilla.

Dayton was the taffy expert. He was the best "puller" and produced the best taffy.

The following evening we went to Temple Square to see the lights. Carter loves trains and found this neat display at City Creek.
It was a nice day, but it was still pretty cold that night. We made a quick walk around the grounds and were ready to get home for some hot chocolate.

Everyone came over to Grandma's for take out Macaroni Grill and then we went to see the movie Coco. It was Hunter's first time in a movie theater. He was in heaven. Popcorn and leather recliner seats made it even more special.

After spending several days in Murray, the boys were worn out. We got home and I found them in Hunter's bed reading books together. Oh how they love books.
It was a busy Christmas, but it was perfect.
