Dave and Shirlene wanted to have the boys come out for a visit. They were so excited! They love Roosevelt and spending time with family.
One of their favorite activities is reading books. Luckily, there are plenty of readers to rotate around in Roosevelt. Even Maddy got a turn.
The boys sure love each other and insist on bedtime hugs and kisses.
Hunter helped Grandpa Dave feed the animals. After they finished their chores, they were running around on the tramp. The weight of grandpa caused Hunter's leg to brake. At first we weren't sure it was broken. He hadn't fallen off the tramp; it simply broke from impact while he was standing. After Hunter couldn't walk for several hours, they took him in for x-rays. The doctor told them it wasn't broken but would send it to the radiologist just in case. We were thrilled, but unfortunately we got a call the next and it was indeed broken. Hunter went in for a splint. The doctor put the splint on incorrectly so Hunter had to go back. Poor kid spent a lot of his "vacation" with grandpa in the hospital. The boys came home the next morning.
Hunter was sad he couldn't go to grandma's preschool, but he enjoyed hanging out and watching shows while his foot healed. Carter got to play doctor and had his leg wrapped too.
Grandma Shirlene even brought home a few extra scooters for Hunter to move around on.
Hunter came home and we found life was a little challenging with a broken leg, but he had a good attitude.
We spent a week in a splint and then got his hard cast on a week later. He had it on for 5 weeks. It has now been almost 7 weeks since his break, and he is just starting to walk. He lost a lot of muscle and is working to gain it back, but he is making progress. Hunter was excited to get three new lego sets since he broke his leg. Without being able to run and play, he needed a new quiet activity. Hunter had lots of friends come visit him and play games with him. He is so lucky to have great family and friends.
