Star Valley

We went up to Star Valley to watch the traditional Star Valley Half Marathon. Lucky for us, it was our turn to stay at the Call Barn. It is beautiful and we enjoyed being able to stay there. It really was perfect. Everyone came over each night for dinners and we were able to hang-out. Hunter even started a duck, duck goose game with everyone. The boys definitely enjoyed the attention. The weekend was filled with dirt biking, four wheeling, hiking, fishing, and horse back riding. It was jammed pack and we had the best time!

We went to Marion and DeeAnne's for a tour of their organic garden and farm. It was pretty amazing. I can't believe the amount of work they do. I thought our yard was work . . . oh man. It was so beautiful up there.

Hunter even found me a "sunflower."

We got to play with the sheep. They were very fuzzy!

Carter's favorite were the chickens. He loved to have them nibble on his fingers. He thought it was hilarious.

On the way back from Marion and DeeAnne's we stopped at Grandma Call's grave. Sadly she passed just after Dayton and I were engaged so the boys never got to meet her. I got to tell them a little bit about her and what a special lady she was. I kept telling them how much she would have loved to be a great grandma.

We couldn't make a trip to Star Valley without visiting the family Call Ready Mix business. To say the boys loved the cement plant was an understatement. This kind of thing is just in their blood and they could not get enough of it. There may or may not have been tears shed as we left. They love machines of every kind. Evan and Justin took the boys for a tour in the cement mixer, front end loader, and forklifts. This just made their trip.

Cache was nice enough to bring over his new horses for the boys to ride. Both Hunter and Carter love horses. They kept asking to go again. What a beautiful place to ride and plenty of space!

It was a busy weekend, but we still made time for good snacks and legos.

We hiked the famous Intermittent Spring. It had been a few years since we hiked it last, but it is always beautiful.

Dave bet Cayden, Dayton, and Savannah $5 to put their heads completely in the river for 5 seconds. It was freezing, but they all did it.

The Laws have never been known to be great fishers. In fact, we joke there is a Law fishing curse. Meaning, we never catch anything. Luckily Dale and Beth's family are pro fishers. We asked Justin to take us fishing. He was our "tour guide" while Dayton and I learned to fly fish for the first time. We had a blast. We hooked several fish, but weren't able to reel them in. Luckily at the very end of our fishing trip, Dayton (with the help of Hunter of course) caught a small fish. It was too small to keep, but we were just happy Hunter got to catch a fish. He was thrilled. Fishing trip = success.

We finished the weekend by watching Grandma Shirlene, Grandpa Dave, and family run the half marathon. Hunter ran the end of the race with grandpa.
